Long ago, in a universe far away, there was no ravelry. There was an internet, and for some reason, I found out about and signed up for the Rowan Yarn club. I stayed with it for a few issues of the magazine, and for some reason this project (Bark) captured my imagination. Not because of the blond guy in the skirt. Because of the thick shoulder shawl. 

SHE: Why are you wearing that thing around your waist?
HE: Same reason you are wearing that thing around your shoulders.
SHE: I can't wait to get home and wash my hair.

I acquired the yarn. I held on to the Rowanesque fantasy of somewhere in the countryside (British), somewhere in time (not the 21st century). Oh, let's add in someone thinner, younger, blonder, more Bohemian.

All that super-bulky yarn took up a lot of space, both in the closet and in my mind.

One of the most bizarre projects ever. This thing is a quarter circle, crocheted in super-bulky yarn. Trust me, it doesn't look quite the same over yoga pants and a fleece jersey as it does over a plaid shmatte next to a hunk and a tree. Very appropriate for the Polar Vortex, I guess, but I'm hoping one of the style-nieces will take it off my hands:)

Three Bag WIP

Easy Tunisian crochet for catching up on TV. The most complicated bit is juggling three groups of yarn, but once they are in the plastic bags, it's not too bad. Ugly, but easy to deal with.

Stashbuster Three-Color Tunisian Blanket. Forty inches wide. Two feet in length, to date. Very airy, so it may not consume as much yarn as I had hoped, but I am pleased with the color combination.

Cold spring. Noro cowl is just the thing. Would like it in a different colorway combo. Already have the yarn. And the needles. And the pattern print-out.

Simple new design. Want to see it in another yarn. Takes more than a snap of the fingers. Yarn just jumped out of stash pile, though. Why wouldn't it on a gray day of constant rain?

The Craft Cocktail of Yarn: Rowan Fine Art, sock yarn with merino(48%), kid mohair(20%), polyamide (25%), mulberry silk (10%).

Shade 302. Tawny.

The mohair was the clincher. 

Too many WIP's already, but will that stop me from casting on a pair of socks? Of course not, because they will be for me.

No idea what this would have represented to an Ancient Egyptian. I'm a lazy sightseer with a bad memory, after all.

Liked the shapes and textures, though, and the fiber connection. 

Hm-m-m-m. Look closer. Represents stash in proportion to stature: a bit overpowering, no?

Need

What's need got to do with it? Need more yarn like I need another hole in my head, or another dust bunny under the bed, or another pine needle on the driveway.

Strict Me:  What's that in the package?

Sneaky Me:  Oh, nothing.  

Strict Me:  Pretty bulgy for "nothing."

Sneaky Me:  Oh, it must be those dish towels I ordered.  I'll just go put them away.

Strict Me:  Why are you going upstairs?  I thought you kept dishtowels in the kitchen?

Sneaky Me:  Oh, I meant to go downstairs.   To the laundry.  You know how towels smell funny until you wash them.

Strict Me:  Hm-m-m-m.  Why don't I believe you?

Sneaky Me:  Alright. It's art. Fiber art. Don't roll your eyes at me. Okay, it's yarn. But it's club yarn. And it's art. It doesn't count as adding to stash.
