I'm So Finished

with this winter.

Lots of time indoors to knit and crochet, though. This project resulted from mid-winter color craving.

One-skein version of this pattern: Solveig 

Excellent pattern for long color-change yarn such as this Noro Kureyon Sock as well as solid colors. Beautiful textured stitch, and looks good with or in this case without the narrow ruffled border.


Using Crystal Palace Mini Mochi, I made this version--longer and with the ruffled border-- three years ago.

I have crocheted many of eclat du soleil's designs.  Her patterns are quite detailed with explicit photos of every step. You can find them on-line at annette petavy design where they are available in French, English and Swedish.

3-2-1-WIP

Plus Bonus Progress

Sick of all the cold, the rain, the snow, the gray, I began a colorful crocheted scarf.

Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn is wildly colorful, but not very suitable for socks. It is very thin with occasional thicker sections, but it works fine for a crocheted scarf. Although it is a bit rough, it should soften up with a wash and a rinse.

Pattern: Solveig by eclat du soleil. 

I like to have a crochet project in addition to knitting on various sized needles so that I can give my hands a needed break from too much of one thing.


Three Clues

Mystery KAL continues and the third clue is completed. This is a snippet; if you want spoilers you can go to the Follow Your Arrow KAL group on ravelry and be amazed at the gorgeous color choices. Mine are on the subdued end of the continuum. I have chosen clues 1B, 2B, and 3B. Two more weeks of clues to go.

Two Sock Cuffs

Completed the leg portions of this pair of socks. Have learned from experience that I need to knit them in tandem, moving back and forth from sock to sock. This avoids "Second Sock Syndrome" as well as "Two Different Sizes Syndrome." 

One Sleeve

One sleeve down, one to go and then this cardigan will be complete.  I knit the sleeve on two circulars, as I found DPN's too cumbersome for the other one that I knit. 

The only thing I can say about the Polar Vortex is that it gives me plenty of knitting and crocheting time.

Fanfare FO

Fast, relaxing project for a busy week. A little too warm to wear in the hazy, humid weather, but that will change before too long.

Mine was worked with 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden Sock in color way S279. The fiber softened considerably after a bath in Perwoll.

Hooking Air

Working on Schultertuch/Dreieckstuch with the aid of this handy little table of crochet terms in various languages.

Love the design, very simple, but looks beautifully complex when worked up.  Pattern itself is on Facebook and includes a chart and a detailed photo tutorial.



As a bonus, I learned some German words: Schulter for shoulder, Dreiecks for triangle, as well as some crochet terms. My favorite: Luftmasche. So much more fun to pronounce than "Chain Stitch" and it means "air stitch." How apt is that? 




Really enjoy the international aspect of knitting and crocheting. World harmony through sticks and strings!

Hoh, Hoh, FO !

The universe laughs. Finished the cowl just in time for the return of hazy, hot, and humid. No guarantee that such weather will continue, of course, so I'm sure I'll wear it before too much longer, even if only to defend against excess AC.

Details: Over the Helix Cowl by by Terry Ann Hagerman
         Noro Taiyo, Color#2 1 skein, Color#13 1 skein
         24 in circumference, 18 in height

An easy linen stitch pattern using alternating skeins. The Taiyo contains more yardage than the Noro Aya called for in the pattern, so I was able to knit an additional 6 inches in height before I pulled the plug. Still had lots of yarn left over.

Progress on two fronts.

The Lady Is A Ninja Cowl KAL:

Finished the yoke.

Over the Helix Cowl:

A few inches finished. 

Weather is so changeable. Hot, sunny, summery for a few hours, then cool, damp, raw for a few hours. Still good cowl weather.

Succumbed

to the colors. No surprise.

My favorite Little Golden Book was The Color Kittens. Especially this page:

They got so pouncy they knocked over the

buckets and all the colors ran out together.

There were all the colors in the world and

the color kittens had made them.

All the colors in the world. Eisaku Noro is a color kitten. Who knew?

And 64 years after it's publication, The Color Kittens by Margaret Wise Brown is still in print.

Cold spring. Noro cowl is just the thing. Would like it in a different colorway combo. Already have the yarn. And the needles. And the pattern print-out.
